Dixie Chicks

Dixie Chick Natalie Maines to a concert in London: "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." Maines later explained on the country band's web site: "We've been overseas for several weeks and have been reading and following the news accounts of our governments' position. The anti-American sentiment that has unfolded here is astounding. While we support our troops, there is nothing more frightening than the notion of going to war with Iraq and the prospect of all the innocent lives that will be lost."

Now radio stations are boycotting Dixie Chicks songs.

I wonder if people will start replacing "dixie" with "freedom" now.

I along with my family and freinds will for ever boycott the Dixie Chicks. Our father's, son's, mother's, and daughter's are over there fighting for our country, and they had no right to say the things they did. Guess its time for them to stay home and have their baby's now.

The Dixie Chicks demonstrated their true colors. If you listen closely to their lyrics, you shouldn't be surprised that they are unamerican? Who would record a song about killing a man in cold blood and protest legitimate military action? "Earl's Gotta Die" is the female equivilent of "Delia's Gone"......both pitiful excuses for entertainment. The Chicks are not talented musicians and have ridden the shock value wave long enough!

It is ignorant to think that the comments that Natalie Maines made were un-American or in anyway indicated that she is against the men and women serving in the US military. One of the freedoms I value as an American is that of speech. This is not to say that I believe Ms. Maines comments were appropriate in that setting, but none-the-less I believe that her opinion should be respected. It is a truly scary day for America when people are boycotted for utilizing their freedom of speech.
